Who We Are

The Helping Hands, Orillia Volunteer Board of Directors brings together dedicated and experienced community leaders who serve as volunteer members of our Board of Directors. Our Board plays a vital role in guiding the organization’s mission to support independence and quality of life for seniors and adults with disabilities.

As volunteers, Board members contribute their knowledge, experience, and passion to ensure Helping Hands remains a strong, accountable, and community-focused organization. Together, they uphold the highest standards of governance—acting in the best interests of the organization, demonstrating integrity, and the board provides guidance and governance to ensure that the organization's mission and goals are achieved.

What We Do

Volunteer Board members are responsible for the governance and long-term stewardship of Helping Hands, Orillia. This includes:

  • Setting Strategic Direction
    Collaborating to establish goals, priorities, and a clear vision that aligns with the organization’s mission and community needs.

  • Oversight and Accountability
    Monitoring organizational performance, ensuring financial accountability, and reviewing programs and services to support continuous improvement.

  • Policy and Governance Leadership
    Establishing and maintaining by-laws, governance frameworks, and policies that guide ethical, effective operations.

  • Supporting Executive Leadership
    Providing guidance and oversight to the Executive Director while respecting the distinction between governance and daily operations.

  • Risk Management and Compliance
    Ensuring the organization operates within legal, financial, and ethical standards.

  • Community Connection and Advocacy
    Representing Helping Hands in the community, building relationships, and promoting the organization’s impact and value.

  • Resource Development and Fundraising Support
    Contributing to fundraising efforts and supporting long-term sustainability initiatives.

Board members participate in regular meetings, committees, and key organizational initiatives—working collaboratively to ensure Helping Hands continues to deliver high-quality, responsive services to the community.
