Friendly Visiting/Telephone Reassurance

Who We Are

The Friendly Visiting and Phone Reassurance Program at Helping Hands, Orillia is a caring, volunteer-driven service designed to provide regular check-ins and reassurance to seniors and adults who may live alone or be at risk of isolation. We are committed to promoting safety, connection, and peace of mind for both clients and their loved ones.

What We Do

The Phone Reassurance Program delivers phone calls from trained volunteers to ensure clients are safe, supported, and connected. Through this program, we:

  • Conduct regular wellness check-ins to promote safety and early identification of concerns
  • Provide friendly conversation and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation
  • Offer peace of mind to family members and caregivers
  • Escalate concerns through appropriate channels when a client cannot be reached or requires assistance

This service is a simple but impactful way to ensure individuals remain connected and supported while maintaining independence in their own homes.

The Friendly Visiting Program at our Brechin site offers scheduled, in-person visits where volunteers connect with residents who may be present at the time of the visit. Through these interactions, we:

  • Provide social interaction and companionship to enhance the resident experience
  • Support emotional well-being through friendly conversation and engagement
  • Create opportunities for connection and meaningful moments during a resident’s stay
  • Offer a warm, supportive presence that contributes to a positive and inclusive environment

This program helps ensure that individuals at our Brechin location feel welcomed, valued, and connected during their time onsite.
